Vineyard Open House is an outgrowth of Owner David Lott's nearly 30 years marketing resort real estate and master-planned golf and water view communities. Lott is a current Martha’s Vineyard resident and built his first house on the island at the age of 22, and his fascination with homes and real estate continues to this day.
The Lott family has deep roots on Martha’s Vineyard, having been coming to the island since the 1890s. Lott’s grandfather, Harris Crist, retired to Vineyard Haven in 1936 from his position as co-owner of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper and commissioned a 5-BR residence to be built overlooking the harbor.
His wife Addie Crist became an organist for Grace Church while he followed his passion for golf at the Oak Bluff’s Country Club (now Farm Neck Golf Club). Addie Crist’s greatest legacy is the Red Stocking Fund, which she started in 1938 with a few friends who knitted six red Christmas stockings and filled them for needy island children. The Red Stocking Fund has since grown exponentially and each year distributes toys and clothing to more than 400 islanders.
Real Estate Connections
Vineyard Open House works in conjunction with the GolfCourseHome Network, the network of 44 Member Websites Lott founded in 1995. This Luxury Resort Referral Network builds on the GCH Network's nearly 20 years of serving as a consumer resource for master-planned resort communities. Currently, brokers serving resort communities in Massachusetts, Vermont, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida are members of this referral network.

“After a long career, holding executive positions in travel & hospitality marketing firms, I am thrilled to be a part of Vineyard Open House, and especially excited about directing the rental division. We specialize in white glove concierge services. Once you rent a house through Vineyard Open House, you will go nowhere else.”
Kristin has been passionate about real estate since the age of 6 when she started regularly reading the Sunday New York Times Real Estate Section. She cut out listings and ads that included floor plans and kept them all in an empty candy tin that she carried around with her wherever she went.
After getting married, graduating from college and having two daughters, she continued to pursue her passion for real estate. She and her family lived in Westchester County near New York City. She held a real estate license and worked primarily as a real estate investor and serial renovator. Along the way Kristin learned how to spot a diamond in the rough, how to renovate a house for maximum return, and how to market a property using crucial staging techniques even before there was such a word in the industry. As a result, her houses always sold quickly and often generated bidding wars even in weak market conditions.
In travel, Kristin has been the Executive Director of the Association of Travel Marketing Executives for the past 20 years. She has been responsible for all events, membership, fund raising, conferences, education, publications, marketing, technology and social media for this highly respected professional association.
Putting Down Roots
Martha’s Vineyard holds a special place in the hearts of the families who vacation here year after year. For many, the idea of owning a summer or year-round home here remains only a dream. But others, like Kristin and her family, gradually realize that it is a realistic and attainable goal.
Eight years ago they moved from New York to West Tisbury. Their house is a valuable financial asset – especially because they sometimes choose to rent it to summer vacationers, defraying the costs of ownership.
Whether you are a buyer, seller or vacationer Kristin will strive tirelessly to put her real estate acumen and deep knowledge of the Vineyard to work to help you turn your Martha’s Vineyard dream into a marvelous reality.
She looks forward to meeting you and helping you and your family share the incomparable rewards of Vineyard life.
