2021 Holiday Season Gets Underway
The holidays are finally here and that means it’s time to give back and gather with loved ones.
To get it all started, the MV Harley Riders took to the road recently in their annual trek to drum up donations for the Red Stocking Fund. Their ride was a great success, raising more than $12,000 for the organization which gives "something to wear, something to eat and something to play with" to the children of more than 300 island families.
(The Red Stocking Fund was started by Addie Crist, grandmother of Vineyard Open House's Broker/Owner David Lott, in 1938. Learn more about Addie and the beginnings of the Red Stocking Fund here.)
Upcoming 2021 Holiday Season Events
The Harley ride is just the beginning, though, and the island has a long list of upcoming events, celebrations and things to do. Last year Covid put a damper on things, but this year is primed for a bounce-back.
Start it off with the Vineyard Artisans Thanksgiving Weekend Festival which is happening this Friday, Nov. 26.
Then, mark down the annual Christmas in Edgartown extravaganza which is scheduled for December 9 to12. The town really puts out the red carpet for fun events, shopping and eating opportunities and even a parade.
Holiday shopping opportunities have already started welcoming celebrants such as at Featherstone in Oak Bluffs and at the World Market Holiday Pop-Up Shop at the Capawock theater in Vineyard Haven.
Another pop-up store at Heather Gardens makes its first appearance on Friday (Nov. 26) from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Another can't-miss stop is the beautiful Ag Hall which will host a special indoor farmers’ market on Saturday, December 18.
Of course, this accounting is just the start of all to see and experience on island this 2021 Holiday Season.
