Presented by Men's Journal and hosted by The Black Dog, the the Vineyard Cup gets underway in Vineyard Sound the weekend of July 16-18. The annual event will be managed by Sail MV, an Island organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Martha's Vineyard's seafaring traditions and offering free sailing instruction for the Island's youth (over 300 kids this summer).
The weekend will include music, food, drink and good times. Based on the success of last year's event, The Vineyard Cup Regatta is emerging as a premier venue in the Northeast’s summer racing scene and is expected to attract many of the area’s most competitive racers.
There will be racing for boats entered in Gaff Rig, PHRF and Cruising Canvas Divisions. The event will begin with a Skipper's meeting at 11 am on Friday and racing will begin that afternoon and continue Saturday, July 17, and Sunday, July 18 with first, second, and third prizes awarded in each Division. See the Racing Instruction on www.vineyardcup.com. The “coveted” Bronze Lobster Trophy will also be awarded to the team with the lowest combined corrected times.
Also a part of this weekend regatta will be and events held in Menemsha Pond for Herreshof 12’s, Sunfish and the Railton Handicap Division.
Further information on the weekend, as well as on-line registration forms and the Notice of Race (NOR), is currently available at [www.vineyardcup.com or by calling Sail MV at 508-696-7644.
