_Avanti closes in on the Holmes Hole finish line.
_
Roger Becker reports: Eleven boats started Sunday's Holmes Hole race: Course 4 across Vineyard Sound, east to Waquoit and back. Two boats retired for lack of wind or loss of directions and there was the guest boat Wind's Eye.
As usual, the return against the wind and tide around C 15 proved the greatest challenge, but it was the loss of wind near NW and East Chop that decided the A class race in favor of Peter Goodale, in Stormalong II, who found the little bit of wind to get him home first.
Magic Time again, left the rest of the entrants of Class B far in its wake. Avanti came in very happily in third place.
Next HHSA race is Thursday evening then there will be a break this weekend to allow HHSA members to race in the Around the Island race or the Vineyard Cup, whichever suits your tastes.
